Summary:

o To build a focused youth ministry, grounded in the Scriptures, passionate to reach out to others

Principles:

o Jesus Christ wants to engage youth in an adventurous faith

o Youth desire to know God and to live significant and purposeful lives

o Ministry flows out of and through safe relationships with staff team and within the whole Church

o Youth are part of families: Youth ministry interacts with the family

Responsibilities and Duties:

o Build Relationships with Youth

-Contact each youth personally, once a week, by telephone, email, Facebook, or in person

-Pray for each one intentionally

o Gather Small Groups

-Organize & host groups for discipleship around the Scriptures

o Engage Youth in Ministry

-Develop a platform, e.g. music, drama, sports, school tutoring, computers, or other concern

-Connect youth to ministry opportunities within parish (e.g. VBS Youth Leaders, Acolytes, Sound Team, Mission Trips, etc.)

o Lead Youth in Worship

-Starting in Fall 2011, once a month on Saturday evenings

-In 2012, adapt schedule to growth of ministry

o Build Bridges within the Parish

-Recruit and develop a team of adults to support youth

-Communicate vision for on-going ministry among youth, their parents, and the parish

-Develop and oversee Youth Ministry budget in conjunction with Rector and Vestry

o Build Relationships with Other Churches

-Liaise with Diocesan Youth Ministry (including BCAD, Emerge, and Camp Wingmann)

-Liaise with Local Churches and School Ministries (e.g. FCA, YoungLife)

Qualifications:

o Demonstrates a deep commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ

o Upholds Scripture as God’s Word for his/her own life and for the youth

o Values teamwork and open to a new model of ministry

o Expresses the vision and faith to start and build up a ministry

o Will successfully complete “Safeguarding God’s Children” within first month
