Profile: Youth Worker
Position is part-time (approx. 18 hours/week) on a one-year renewable
contract

Summary:
oTo
start and begin building a youth ministry with a vision for a dynamic, growing
and comprehensive ministry, which will include evangelism, discipleship,
worship and missions, for middle school and high school youth, where each young
person is invited to know and serve Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, filled
with the joy of the Holy Spirit and the love of our Father in heaven.

Responsibilities
and Duties:
oCommunicate
with each youth personally once a week by telephone, email, Facebook, or in
person—e.g. build relationships with the youth
oOrganize
& host a small group (e.g. Bible Study) for youth—with goal of four or more
groups, one each for middle school and high school, for guys and gals
oDevelop
a ministry platform, e.g. one of the following, music, drama, sports, school
tutoring, computers, etc., according to the gifts of the youth worker
oRecruit
a team of adults as a sounding board and as co-workers with the youth
oVisit
with each youth family at least once a year
oDevelop
and communicate vision for on-going youth ministry in parish to the youth,
their parents, and the parish
oPropose
and oversee calendar, budget, and resources, and coordinate accordingly with
Vestry and staff—including to develop an action plan by the end of the first
month
Qualifications:
oDemonstrates
a deep commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ
oUpholds
Scripture as God’s Word for his/her own life and for the youth
oValues
teamwork and open to a new model of ministry
oExpresses
the vision and faith to start and build up a ministry
oPrior
experience and/or education in youth ministry are desired
oWill
successfully complete “Safeguarding God’s Children” within first month
