I am excited that Mother’s Day falls on Pentecost this Sunday. At Pentecost in Acts 2, the crowd heard Peter tell the exciting news about the risen Jesus and the long-awaited coming of God’s kingdom. And then he said, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” That promise and blessing is for us today. Indeed, we can now see growth in our children’s and family’s ministry at Our Savior.

And there’s more to come…Cosmic City VBS, July 28-August 1: The VBS team, led by Hyacinth Clunie, is excited with this summer’s offering. I have asked the team to prepare for one of our largest turnouts in years. We’d love to have parents and other family members, participating to make the week “out-of-this-world” for the kids! Family Nights, 7-8:30pm Wednesday Evenings June 11, 25, July 9, 23, August 6: How can children enjoy Church the most? The answer is so simple, it is often overlooked: Children enjoy Church most when their families are enjoying church, too! This summer then we will experiment with five evenings of simple fun—maybe some popcorn, a short video, a silly game or two—all designed with children and their families. I hope you will come and meet others—and even bring a friend or two.

Family Focus Meeting: On May 31 (9-10am), we will meet as parents, grandparents, team members, and others all interested in children. We want to be working together and sharing the vision for God’s blessing on our children. We will meet in the Education Building. At that time, you can take a look at the (children’s) chapel and the playground, both of which are being spruced up.

I hope to see you Sunday—remember it’s both Mother’s Day and Pentecost. You might encourage your child(ren) to wear red! The Lord is working among us, and it is so encouraging to see what He is doing.
