An Introduction

Welcome newcomers, visitors, guests and friends!

We are a church community with a heart for the world!  We are unique and special, even one of a kind.  We come from more than twenty countries (Antigua, Aruba, Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, China, Cuba, Germany, Great Britain, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Italy, Jamaica, Liberia, Panama, Poland, Singapore, St. Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and all over the United States).  Yet, we stand together as one Church, one people in Jesus Christ!

We are concerned for each other and for you.  We reach out to children, to seniors, to college students, to shut-ins, and to parents and grandparents. We are ordinary people (not one of us is perfect), yet we enjoy the wonder of a truly extra-ordinary God.  We rejoice in the love, hope and courage of Jesus Christ, and are eager to share generously the Faith that we have in Him.

We look forward to sharing with you our vision and passion for Jesus Christ and for people.  Please do look around the website and plan to visit us at your earliest convenience.

We are a growing Church, growing in our faith and expectation of what God will do in, among  and through us, and growing in attendance and activities. We believe that God is alive and powerful, ready to heal, ready to forgive, ready to give new life in Jesus Christ.  We are eager to welcome children, parents, teenagers, and grandparents, those who have never attended Church as well as those who are new to the area and looking for a new Church

We offer Who Is Jesus, Anyway? a course for the curious twice a year.  We strive to make the program a safe place for anyone to ask any question!  If you know next to nothing about Jesus...this course is for you.  If you know and love Jesus dearly, and you want to find out if we do...this course is also for you.  Anyone who has questions about Jesus is strongly urged and invited to come and participate.  In January 2011, the course will run on six Tuesday mornings starting on January 9; and in September the course will run on six Wednesday evenings.

You'll find more details about other Current Events here.

Again Welcome!  And enjoy your look around our website.

Getting Started

Here is a brief look at what to expect on a Sunday morning:

As a visitor to Church of Our Savior, you are a welcome and respected guest.

  • You will meet a greeter at the door.  Be sure to get a weekly bulletin on the way inside, it contains the service outline and notices of events in and around the Church.

  • You may sit anywhere there is an available seat.  An usher will be happy to assist you if needed.

  • At 8:00am, the music is always with organ or piano accompaniment; at 10:30am, the music may be accompanied by  piano, steel drums, and/or organ.

  • We do believe God answers prayers--and so after the sermon, there is a time for personal prayers for healing, wisdom, and/or thanksgiving.

  • Members of Church of Our Savior support the church financially and offer God their tithes and offerings.  As a guest, you are not expected to contribute to the offering.

  • Our prayer is that you will experience the presence of God here, hear His Word, and be welcomed.

Children are always welcome to stay and worship...

...however, we offer two special ministries for them:

  • The Nursery Room is right off to the side of the congregation, feel free to step inside when your child wants some extra space.
  •
  • Children, age 3 years to 3rd grade, at the 10:30am service, are invited to go out to Children's Church at the end of the processional hymn and to return in time for Communion.

A few extras:

  • Assistive hearing devices are available.

  • The service is projected on the wall for your convenience.

  • Please use the Friendship Forms to communicate with us any questions or comments.

  • At Holy Communion, everyone is welcome to come forward.  All baptized Christians are invited to receive the Holy Communion. Receive the bread in your palm, eat it, and then guide the chalice to your lips to sip the wine.  Those who are not baptized or for whatever reason choose not to receive Communion are invited to come forward to receive a blessing prayer.  Simply cross your arms over your chest so that the priest or deacon knows to pray a blessing prayer for you.  Please wait to return to your seat until the person on your left has received the chalice.
